Tokyo Vasectomy Reversal

What You Should Know about Vasectomy Reversal

Even though vasectomy is considered a permanent process that is irreversible once completed, a fairly new option for former vasectomy patients wishing to restore their fertility is available in Tokyo. Vasectomy reversal is practiced around the world, though only a handful of male fertility doctors and micro-surgeons have successful track records with reversing vasectomy. However, the success rate is not 100 percent, so prospective patients for vasectomy reversal should have an understanding of the process.

How Vasectomies Work

One of the keys to understanding vasectomy reversal is to know what happened during the original vasectomy procedure. It is common knowledge that a vasectomy involves cutting the tube that brings sperm into the seminal stream, known as the vas deferens, in order to prevent fertilization from occurring. Vasectomy involves creating a blockage in the vas deferens that does not allow sperm to pass into the urethra.

In some cases following a vasectomy, another blockage or scarring can occur at the epididymus, which is located near the top of the vas deferens. The epididymus is a delicate structure that is difficult to operate on successfully, and if a blockage forms which is not removed, fertility will not be restored.

What Vasectomy Reversal Does

During a Tokyo vasectomy reversal, the vasectomy reversal doctor will surgically remove the blockage created by the vasectomy, and then reconnect the vas deferens to allow sperm back into the seminal flow. It is important that fluid assessment take place during the procedure, which allows the doctor to determine where other blockages may be located, and whether a connection at the epididymus is necessary.
